Can you run it — and how it really does on handhelds

All tiers: Windows 11 (64-bit) and 100 GB on SSD. Steam's store page lists Windows 11 only; the press spec sheet also mentions Windows 10 22H2. Note the minimum Intel GPU is the Arc A580 (some outlets misprinted B580).

Upscaling Support

  • DLSS - RTX 20-series and newer; frame generation requires RTX 40-series or newer.
  • FSR 3 - all hardware; RX 9000-series (RDNA 4) automatically uses FSR 4.
  • XeSS - Steam version only; the Game Pass / Microsoft Store PC build does not include it. Avoid XeSS + frame generation (known freeze issue - see fixes).
  • Frame generation toggle: Settings (F1) → Video → Advanced → Frame Generation.

Steam Deck: Verified, But Temper Expectations

The game carries an official Steam Deck Verifiedbadge (first launch requires internet; external controllers can't be player one). Real-world testing tells a harsher story: at the handheld-only Very Low preset with TSR at 100%, big battles drop to ~24-27 FPS, and heavy-CPU areas stay under 30 no matter the settings (community testing, Steam Deck HQ).

Best-known Deck settings (community-tested)

  • Very Low preset + TSR upscaling at ~70% resolution scale
  • 30 FPS cap; disable VSync and motion blur
  • Global Illumination and Lighting Quality give the biggest gains when lowered
  • Expect ~21-25W draw and roughly 2-2.5 hours of battery

Windows Handhelds (ROG Ally & co.)

Windows handhelds carry the top "Handheld Optimized" rating. When the game detects a handheld it unlocks a special Very Low quality tier (hidden on desktop) and hides High/Ultra. On a ROG Ally X at 25W, expect 30-40 FPS on Very Low + TSR; FSR Medium + Very Low is the community-recommended balance point.

Q: Can my PC run Halo: Campaign Evolved?

A: Minimum for 1080p/60: Ryzen 5 3600 or i7-10700K, RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 / Arc A580, 16GB RAM, 100GB SSD, Windows 11. Recommended for 4K/60: Ryzen 7 7700 or i7-12700K, RTX 3080 Ti / RX 9070, 32GB RAM.

Q: How big is Halo: Campaign Evolved?

A: 100 GB of free space on all platforms, and the official spec sheet lists SSD storage at every tier. Expect large updates on top.

Q: Does it support DLSS, FSR, and XeSS?

A: Yes: DLSS on RTX 20-series and up (frame generation needs RTX 40-series+), FSR 3 on all hardware (RX 9000-series auto-enables FSR 4), and XeSS - but XeSS is Steam-only, not available in the Game Pass / Microsoft Store PC version.

Q: Is Halo: Campaign Evolved good on Steam Deck?

A: It is officially Steam Deck Verified, but real-world testing shows big battles dropping to ~24-27 FPS even on the lowest settings. Best playable setup: Very Low preset, TSR upscaling at ~70% resolution scale, 30 FPS cap. Temper expectations.
