The Basics

Halo: Campaign Evolved hides 13 terminals - one per mission, including the three Operation: METEORITE prequel missions. They appear as red-glowing screens (turning green once activated); interacting registers the log instantly, and you can read every collected log later from the Collectibles menu. Finding all 13 unlocks the "Lore Have Mercy" achievement/trophy. In-universe, the terminals are ONI-marked UNSC devices tied to a classified program called Project BOOKWORM.

The Pillar of Autumn

#1Approach

Location: In the cryo bay control/observation room: after entering the opening cryo chamber area, turn left - the terminal is at the right side toward the back of the room.

What the log says: Everyday chatter from the Autumn’s crew - meals, games, and worries about family - grounding the opening battle in ordinary human voices.

Halo

#2Forgotten

Location: Inside the Forerunner tunnel: climb up through the gap on the right side, then drop down from the ledge to reach a small platform holding the terminal.

What the log says: A monologue from 343 Guilty Spark reflecting on the Forerunners’ sacrifice and questioning whether later civilizations deserve their inheritance.

The Truth and Reconciliation

#3Inquisitor

Location: In the energy-prison block aboard the Covenant cruiser - inside a cell to one side, after you free the friendly Grunts.

What the log says: The Prophet of Stewardship orders shipmaster Lat ‘Ravamee to capture and interrogate human prisoners found on the ring.

The Silent Cartographer

#4Status Update

Location: In the Hunter fight corridor, tucked behind a small wall past the control panel.

What the log says: Guilty Spark anxiously awaits contact with the monitors of the other Halo rings, repeatedly frustrated by technical limits.

Assault on the Control Room

#5Tangent I

Location: At the icy cavern fork: on the upper level of the central rock structure, in a corner.

What the log says: Guilty Spark establishes contact with 2401 Penitent Tangent, monitor of Delta Halo, and begins a philosophical exchange about a monitor’s duty.

343 Guilty Spark

#6Tangent II

Location: After crossing the light bridge, in the interior area - loop around the wall and through the doorway.

What the log says: 2401 grows unstable, questioning the Forerunners’ decision to fire the Array and hinting at knowledge of something ancient.

The Library

#7Tangent III

Location: Take the left door out of the Guilty Spark room, then blast through the Flood growth blocking the passage.

What the log says: Guilty Spark records 2401’s continued deterioration - the corrupted transmissions already foreshadow Flood infestation on Delta Halo.

Two Betrayals

#8Alone

Location: At the very start of the mission, directly behind the holographic sphere.

What the log says: His correspondence ended, Guilty Spark returns to solitude, resolving to keep his post until humanity can claim the Mantle of Responsibility.

Keyes

#9Consumed

Location: In the upper hangar bay: after the Hunter fight, take the left corridor at the fork to its end.

What the log says: A Covenant officer reports the Flood overrunning the Truth and Reconciliation and begs for his own ship to be glassed to contain the outbreak.

The Maw

#10Arrival

Location: In the Pillar of Autumn’s mess hall (room B03L from mission 1), between the vending machines.

What the log says: Major Silva rallies his ODSTs before their drop to the ring - echoing his role in the novel The Flood.

Boarding Action (Operation: METEORITE)

#11The Path

Location: After riding the lift up with Johnson, turn around and take the door on your right (about 8 o’clock) into a side room.

Log: Log summary being verified - we play through the bonus missions ourselves before publishing lore notes.

The Most Dangerous Game (Operation: METEORITE)

#12Penitent Report

Location: In the energy-prison area: through the door on the right, opposite the purple transport-pod room, up on a raised platform.

Log: Log summary being verified. The name suggests a connection to 2401 Penitent Tangent (community speculation, unconfirmed).

Heavy Burden (Operation: METEORITE)

#13Harmonious Clarity

Location: After the bridge cutscene, drop to the bottom level, go through the green door and the armory to the final room - behind the cabinet on the left.

Log: Log summary being verified.

Why These Logs Matter for Halo Lore

  • The 2401 Penitent Tangent arc.The main thread follows Guilty Spark's brief correspondence with Delta Halo's monitor - and quietly sets up why 2401 ends up in the Gravemind's clutches in Halo 2. The corrupted transmissions in Tangent III are the earliest hint of Delta Halo's Flood outbreak.
  • Powers of seven. Monitor designations follow the classic rule: 343 = 7³, 2401 = 7⁴ - a long-running series easter egg reinforced here.
  • Novel tie-ins. The Operation: METEORITE story was written with Halo novelist Troy Denning (Silent Storm) and has a companion short story, Hungry Buzzards. Silva's ODST speech in Arrival echoes his role in The Flood.
